Isabelle Courroy, virtuoso of the kaval, a flute of Turkish-balkan origins, explores the possibilities of her instrument in several repertoire. Though modest and rustic in appearance, the kaval is not an easy instrument to handle: it takes all the delicacy and conviction of a true artist to master it's ultimate subtleties. These qualities are put to good use here in the service of a kaleidoscopic inspiration, constantly renewed over the course of the pieces which are scattered throughout this album of a thousand oriental flavours.
